What is an Empath?

Being empathic is an important part of who we are. We have used our empathic nature to navigate the world we live in since we were born. Instinctively we picked-up on the emotions of our mother and father, other family members, and friends. We respond to passionate songs, dramatic movies, and we are moved to action by fervent speeches. We are uplifted by a beautiful day in nature or playing with our pets. This is because we are all empaths, we just didn’t realize it.

We are energetic beings, and we connect energetically to everything around us. As we learn about our self as a spiritual being, we begin to understand how our energetic body and our empathic nature relates to others. Being empathic can be a blessing and a curse, because while there are wonderful energies to feel around us, there are also many negative energies to be felt. Walking into a room with a lot of people may be overwhelming, you may be bombarded with energies such as anger, sadness, worry or poor health. Group situations can cause anxiety, confusion or a feeling of being uncomfortable for many sensitive empaths, because we are not taught about this intrinsic aspect of our nature, how to protect our self, or how to clear energies we pick-up.

When people do not understand their empathic nature, they may turn to drugs or alcohol to numb what they feel. This is just one reason why learning about yourself as an energetic, spiritual Being is so important. You are made of energy because you are spirit. Spirit in physical form.

As we explore the reality of who and what we are, we realize how precious being empathic is. We can use this gift to consciously experience our life, our surroundings, and to be of service to others.
